The renovations of the House basement and of three of the boys’ bathrooms are now complete!  A $12,000 grant, awarded to Christ Child House by The DeRoy Testamentary Foundation, allowed for the renovation and transformation of the agency’s basement into a multipurpose recreation room.  Not only does the new room have new walls, a new ceiling, and new carpet, it also has beanbag chairs, small televisions for playing video games, a larger television for watching movies, a basketball game, a foosball game, a closet full of toys and games, a table for arts, crafts, and other activities, and, thanks to Detroit Lion Don Mulbach, a home theater system.

Not long after wrapping up the basement project, the bathroom project began.  The Blake Company and Pulte Homes generously provided the funding for the project, which included new tile, showers, toilets, sinks, lighting, and fixtures.  The new bathrooms go a long way to enhance our program capacity .  The changes have made use of the bathrooms much more efficient-especially in the morning and at night during shower times.  The bathrooms look great and create a more home-like atmosphere for our boys.  Thanks to these wonderful donors for making these much needed renovations possible!

Christ Child House received a hefty contribution from The Somerset Collection.  (And we mean hefty—seven gallons to be exact!)  Two buckets full of coins that were removed from the mall fountains  were donated to the agency.  The coin donation wasn’t a quick or easy process, but it was worth it!  Thanks again to The Somerset Collection!

After 3 consecutive years of receiving an honorable mention, Christ Child House was finally chosen as the winner for the Youth Sports and Recreation Commission's Leonard W. Smith Award for Organizational Excellence.  This award is a great honor.  Thank you again to our friends at the YSRC!

Christ Child House is pleased to announce that the agency has been the recipient of several grants from the following foundations and corporate giving programs:

    The OfficeMax Acts Corporate Giving Program for educational programming;

    Detroit Lions Charities to support this 2007 summer camping trips;
